Six more stages were completed in Rally Turkey and the top 10 changed a little bit. Interestingly we have even 5 Lithuanians and 6 Japanese cars among the ten fastest. However the rally leader didn't changed and Juan Marzoa still leads the rally, but the fight for particular positions is intense.
Juan had 25sec lead after first leg but there was 5 guys who could push him for his first place. Mantvydas Ralys was just 6th after first leg, but Lithuanian started to push really hard from first stage on second leg. In fact he pushed so hard that he won SS8, but most amazingly is that he did it after spectacular crash rolling his car and flying into trees on big jump. Nobody knows how, but somehow Mantvydas Hyundai survived that and after getting back on road he set the fastest time. Later on second run on the same stage Lithuanian was way more careful on that jump, but still trashed everyone else by more than 12sec. After Jyrki Niemelas and Echedei Benitez retirements and unlucky Arnas Kerbelys drive, Mantvydas had to fight with nothing more than just Libor Tomecek which he was fallowing up from the first leg. So Matvydas jumped to 2nd place with 1min and 5.4sec gap from Juan and holding Libor Tomecek behind his back with just 4.54sec gap. So Juan Marzoa should feel safe knowing there are two guys fighting for 2nd place, this is what he said,- "Ok, good day for me, sorry for Jyrki..., the last day only finish..., thanks!".
So as You may know the WRC 2 leader after first leg is no more the same. Everything went well for Jyrki until SS13, it seemed that it's gonna be an easy one for Finn as he was leading by 1min and 30sec after SS12. But one of SS13 hairpins were no mercy for Jyrki, he went to wide hit a rock and Ford Fiesta R5 engine was damage too much. Earlier before Echedei Benitez who was fighting with Jan Gais for a 2nd place retired in SS11 as this is no more surprise from Echedei. So Slovakian immediately jumped to first place in WRC 2 classification and after second leg has more than a safe 6min and 24.10sec lead. In 2nd position we see Paulius Butmanas who was just 6th after first leg. Lithuanian gonna have an interesting last day as he has Jyrki Niemela behind with 1min and 22sec gap. Jyrkis Ford is faster than Paulius Subaru by 20-30seconds in each stage, so it can be a very close one after few more stages. Every point is very important for Niemela as he is hoping for a WRC 2 title this season, so maximum push from Finn is guarantee in last leg.
Maciej Mynarski didn't show up at the start line of second leg and made things more easier for a WRC 3 leader Remus Diaconescu. Another Polish guy Maciej Zawisza was pushing hard and reduces the gap from Remus to 1min 56sec but that's truly will be not enough to catch class leader in last day unless Romanian will make a mistake. Tomyjus Vai climbed to 3rd place after Mynarski retirement but his gap from Remus is more than 20 minutes.
Juan Marzoa is very close to his long seen victory, this would be the 4th for him this season. Also it would be a good run away from Libor Tomecek in championship standings if Mantvydas will hold him behind. But we all know how things can flip up immediately in rally.
