Main attention was on championship leader Juan Marzoa who started to lead this mini rally from a second stage. Juan hasn't won a single ERC event this season but after winning five stages he build up an half a minute advantage against Libor Tomecek and finally did it. Little bit more time behind, with 37 seconds gap from Libor, finished Jyrki Niemela with his R5 Ford Fiesta. With this result Finn got closer to 3rd place in overall as Paulo Tempera didn't reached the finish in this rally. Meanwhile Juan takes his 5th win this season and increases his championship lead to 67 points.
For Jyrki this was also a 5th win in class and 4th podium in overall. Finnish driver have beaten his closest rival in this rally Jan Gais by 32.61 seconds. Interestingly Jyrki was just 3rd after SS4, but in the next one Kirill Kolomiets retired and Jyrki won all last four stages. Third position in WRC 2 competition has been taken by Paulius Butmanas, Lithuanian lost over 2 minutes to a class leader. All of these guys finished in top 10 overall.
Whole WRC 3 stages were won by only two Polish guys. Current class leader Maciej Zawisza won first four ones, and the rest four has been won by Mirek Woronecki. After first four stage wins Maciej build over 40 seconds lead and despite winning over stages Mirek didn't managed to melt all Maciej's advantage. Woronecki left 2nd with 23.29sec gap and 3rd result was set by Tomyjus Vai who left behind Maciej with over 3 minutes. As for Juan and Jyrki, this was also the 5th win for Maciej. Pole is now a 31,5 point in a lead of WRC 3 classification.
Some drivers is still with a thoughts about warm and dusty Cyprus while others are already tackling wet and dirty Wales Rally GB stages. This season is very tough and challenging with such a big amount of events and the most important ones begins now.
