Rally Guanajuato Mexico started with Monster Energy Street Stage GTO which was ran for two times. Surprisingly no manufacturer team drivers in top 3 positions after first day. Of course this more of a show than a race in first day, so maybe manufacturer drivers has been more cautious.
Privateer Adrian Klimas who was fastest in shakedown won both first day stages and leads by 2.21 seconds. Manufacturer teams are fallowing this guy really carefully. M-Sport Ford WRT has the biggest chances to grab Adrian as he drives Ford Fiesta WRC. The next guy to fallow is Jakub Horesovsky who holds in 2nd place after city stages and also drives a Ford Fiesta WRC. Lithuanian Rokas Steponavičius is also in a same car and in a same privateer role, his gap from leader is 3.52 seconds. Closest Manufacturer teams are lining up in 4th and 5th places with M-Sport Ford WRT members Oscar Estevez and Arnas Kerbelys. First five places are taken by Ford Fiesta WRC drivers, will be interesting to see if Fords will so dominant in gravel stages.
Krzysiek Sliż and Echedei Benitez had a insanely close battle in WRC 2 classification. First stage has been won by Pole and the second by Spaniard which led to incredibly small gap of 0.01 second between drivers with Benitez in front. Lithuanian Ignas Augustonis follows two Hyundai Motorsport N team drivers in third place with 2.37 seconds from a leader and has another Lithuanian from M-Sport Ford team Gedvis Ralistaz behind him in 4th place.
Miguel Lopez with Peugeot 208 R2 has dominated the JUNIOR WRC category in the opening stages as Spaniard won each stage by 1 second over current JUNIOR WRC leader Enzo Sagrera. Argentinian is 2nd after first day with 2.04 sec. gap, Finn Jyrki Niemela ranks in 3rd with 4.05 seconds from Miguel.
This rally is a great opportunity for M-Sport Ford WRT to catch up with leading manufacturer teams as Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT drivers Juan Marzoa and Jorge Gutierrez is skipping the event. Kirill Kolomiets also wont help for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT here in Mexico this time. The next day is full of action with 10 special stages.
